Wilderness in the centre
Swiss National Park Zernez

In the new permanent exhibition at the Nationalparkzentrum Zernez, visitors immediately find themselves immersed in the theme of "Wilderness". Distinctive moments and areas in the National Park are vividly portrayed in a multi-channel video projection, installed on two screens placed at an angle of 118º, and with open space sound. The imagery portrays the annual seasonal cycle, immersing visitors in blossoming summer vistas and snow-white winter wonderlands.
Tweaklab advised the National Park team on the production of the 180º video footage and was also commissioned to do the precision colour correction and editing of these videos.

Among the dreamlike locations, in the second room visitors encounter an animated landscape, created out of wood, where incorporated sculptures are illuminated by the projected animations and brought to life.
In the next room there are various media stations, such as an interactive yellow telescope, which locates block glaciers, a mass of rubble and ice in motion, and visualises the changes in these formations in the national park between 1946 and 2022. Another interactive station tests observational skills and dexterity. Digital butterflies on a screen are caught with a digitally appearing butterfly net. The captured butterflies can be identified with a button which then displays information about them on the screen.
The multi-channel video projection in the last room shows various animations of the national park and its surroundings. These are incorporated at the end of the exhibition, when a visitor profile is created using the data recorded by the audio guide, and which indicates the "wilderness type" of the visitor. There are a total of five to choose from, and visitors use a button to select their desired character. The animation then changes accordingly, appearing more wild or with some civilised structures, such as roads and fences, thereby indicating whether the visitor is "more cautious" or "ever active", "naturally calm" or "easily fascinated".

In addition, a comprehensive media installation about all the "Bündner Pärke" is also presented, and invites viewers to visit the other Nature Parks in Graubünden, and provides numerous valuable tips and information.

Tweaklab was commissioned with the entire media planning, programming and installation of the media stations, as well as with the stations of the "Bits, Bytes and Biodiversity".

New permanent exhibition from 03.06.2023

 

In the special exhibition "Bits, Bytes and Biodiversity", a synchronised 21-channel video installation, "Triggered by Motion", features footage from wildlife cameras spread all around the world. The screens are arranged within a circular sculpture, and edited in accordance with the transition from day to night.
