New permanent exhibition
Schloss Burgdorf

Interactive media stations breathe new life into various exhibits from the collection and allow the audience to immerse themselves in their history.

Tweaklab was commissioned with the media technical planning, programming, show programming and automation of the media stations, as well as the mapping of two projections and the installation.

In the knights‘ hall, visitors can witness the rise and fall of the Zähringer family up close.
When the start button is pressed, automated blinds darken the room, the lights go out and by means of an animation and recorded sounds the story of the powerful noble family is told. In the middle of the large ballroom, visitors travel back to a different time.
The top floor of the palace is dedicated to two other topics: A poetic media station focuses on the lives of emigrated men and women from Burgdorf. Using subtle animation, five selected individuals, such as the opera singer Maria della Casa, are portrayed on a giant floating balloon. More life stories can be found at the audio stations scattered around the room under the balloon.
The second presentation is dedicated to the topological advantages of the surrounding landscape. This is placed in relation to the historical and economic development of the castle. On a relief representing the region, certain parts light up during the acoustic explanations and are supplemented with graphic elements and photos.
In another room, court cases from the Middle Ages to the 20th century are recounted. When the start button of the chosen case is pressed, the room darkens, individual exhibits on display are illuminated and the film begins. The projection plays a drawn animation on an feigned window in the room. A narrator’s voice gives an account of the facts of the case.
