Tonträger, Michel Roth
Klangweg Toggenburg

solar-powered audio work Tonträger by Michel Roth is part of the Klangwelt Toggenburg sound trail and uses a cable car pylon as a sound pick-up and acoustic body.

The hollow pylon receives the resonances of the cable car and transmits them directly into its interior via a loudspeaker. The system is stimulated by wind, weather, the moving cable car and visitor interactions. A dedicated solar system with two panels generates the electricity for the installation and can be monitored online. The work was developed by artist Michel Roth in close collaboration with Arev Imer (programming) and Tweaklab (planning and installation of hardware and energy supply) and is part of Klangweg Toggenburg.
