On 04.04.2014 the new premises of the Fondation Vincent van Gogh in Arles were opened. The foundation dedicate themselves to contrasting van Gogh’s painting with contemporary works. This approach is aimed to create a productive dialogue. Bice Curiger was entrusted with managing this demanding project. Amongst others she invited Fritz Hauser to create a work of art for the opening exhibition. In the staircase of the building Hauser designed “Schraffur für Arles – Treppe im Regen – Eine Klangzeichung”. For this permanent installation Tweaklab produced three fireproof loudspeakers measuring 50 x 20 x 170 cm in silver and blue, matching the respective colours of the rooms. These two large items – the two-way loudspeakers with player and amplifier – blend into the architecture in an unobtrusive way and without attracting attention. A Meyer Sound Galileo sound processor was installed for distortion correction of loudspeakers and room and hereby achieve a natural stereophonic sound.
