The alps in legend
Forum Schweizer Geschichte Schwyz

"Listening to them gives you the shivers" is how the Forum of Swiss History announces the theme of this exhibition. And indeed legends tell of extraordinary, supernatural or miraculous events. These are tales passed down orally and recorded in writing at a later date. These are stories in which ghosts, witches and devils appear, and yet they are about historical incidents and figures. The legends claim to be real events by specifying a date and a place. At the beginning of the exhibition, visitors are atmospherically introduced to the theme with a large video projection, an animated photograph of a mountain scene. A room installation with burning candles and a specially composed soundscape reiterates the sense of the uncanny. Tweaklab planned and implemented both installations and created the sound design.

The media station "Urban Legends" invites visitors to record "legends" themselves, thus creating their own versions that have a personal touch. The voice recording is started via a foot switch and can also be listened back to, saved, or deleted when finished. In order to save the story to the in-house legend database, text fields such as the title of the story, name, age, and e-mail address must be filled in. They then becomes part of the exhibition and can be heard by all future visitors.
"Urban Legends" was planned, programmed with CMS, and implemented by Tweaklab.
