Visitor Centre psi forum

The Paul Scherrer Institute (PSI) is the largest research centre for natural and engineering sciences in Switzerland. In the new exhibition "Visiting Researchers" in the PSI Visitor Centre, visitors gain insight into the main research areas of PSI. 13 mostly interactive exhibits highlight specific aspects of their work and bring them to life for visitors to experience.
The development and functioning of proton therapy, for example, is explained in an illustrative way using an interactive and animated book. Digital animations are projected onto a book; when the page is turned, a camera detects the action and the content changes accordingly.
At another station, visitors can take an impressive ride through the 3D model of a lung via VR glasses. Head movements can be used to select the language and affect the speed of the ride.
Neutron radiography is illustrated using a circular display case. It contains various exhibits, such as a medical syringe, a combustion engine or a fuel cell. When the visitors turn the column, the screen shows the images or videos captured by neutron radiography of the objects behind the screen.

An interactive terrain model shows how much radioactivity is still contained in different layers of the earth. The visitors define which layer of the terrain they want to look at via a depth beam on the touchscreen. The screen then shows how much radionuclide has penetrated into this layer, as well as additional statistics. On the side of the terrain model, the respective dispersion and intensity of the radioactivity is displayed with the help of a Gobo Projection.

Tweaklab is responsible for the planning, programming and installation of all media installations for the exhibition. The programming and media preparation for the VR glasses was also realized by Tweaklab.
